Medical Marijuana Returned

Police and City Council in Grover Beach decide it's better to listen to the judge, instead of paying a whopping $56,000 fine. The fine is the final decision maker for City officials. Mayor of Grover Beach stated last night at the special meeting held for a Grover Beach man who won his case regarding medical marijuana.
Police Chief states "it was my decision to return the confiscated marijuana". The city understands their position, between Federal and State Law and the conflict involved. However, it is my opinion, the judge is more qualified to make that decision. The Mayor in the city of Grover Beach knows the city is on the verge of Bankruptcy, and lack of funding basically decide the case for the City Council last night.
In my personal opinion, they decided the case would go to Federal Court and they would still be required to return the confiscated marijuana, plus pay the large fine, and include the cost of lawyers and filing fees.
"it's just not worth it", the mayor remarked after closed session!
The fact still remains the Police Chief lost the case according to the Judge and the defendant, he was ordered by a judge to return the confiscated marijuana, and he could have faced obstruction of justice for failing to obey a court order. The Marijuana was returned within hours of the special meeting last night. The defendant however doesn't know if the marijuana which was confiscated over 1 year ago is still usable. The Marijuana was confiscated after a traffic stop and the defendant didn't have his medical marijuana card with him, they searched the vehicle and found the marijuana. All medical marijuana patients are required to carry their ID cards when they have their medication with them.
