AEI Report Strategy Change in Iraq Includes More Troops

On a new front the American Enterprise Institute’s report continues to acknowledge we are going no where quick in Iraq. It looks like we have opened a Pandora box without a doubt. Ignoring the small fact President Bush is responsible for creating a huge debt for our children while increasing his net income, the American People must sacrifice more lives at the expense of Iraqi lives to increase our chances of winning in this region.
I'll say it one more time. Impeach Bush and Cheney, for crimes against the Iraqi people, and using the office of President to seek personal gains. It will remind our future leaders they cannot run our country into the ground.
Danielle Pletka from AEI states “America is now in Iraq and we must win…We can lose only if we choose to.”
Fredrick Kagen a resident Scholar states, “We need to get the situation in Iraq under control.” He wants to institute “Choosing Victory” suggested in phases. Phase I includes securing Baghdad. He knows the Iraqi’s people cannot develop democracy living in fear from sectarian violence. Kagen suggests troop commitment, a clear and hold policy focusing on the “Green Zone” where ethnical cleansing is rampant. building a Iraqi army is not working because the current Iraqi army is mainly sectarian and violence is stemming from these area’s to the population.
Securing the population is the first phase. They need 35,000 troops from 5 brigades, with flexibility and reserve to complete the mission. Kagen states, “We are facing an enemy who is trying to defeat us” He admits our current policy cannot deal with the escalating violence, claiming the AEI has a definable U.S. Policy in Iraq. As part of the plan we need to “project the worse case scenario plus more“. We cannot surge and leave the region. It is what the enemy expect from the nations. He projects with this plan 2007 will be a “bloody” year. What ever strategy we choose, we cannot withdraw from the situation, or it will get worse.
General Jack Keale (ret.)also stated , we need to secure the population by house to house sweeps again, because we cannot choose to lose in Iraq. By securing the people of Iraq, they will feel more secure to and focus on bringing democracy back to the region by voting without fear of secular violence. He stated by empowering the Iraqi people, the will support their cause. He also stated we must let the people know, we are working with both Sunni, and Shea . Also stating we are failing in Iraq because we could not protect the people. We need to secure 24/7. So we can provide basic services and begin the rebuilding process safely. He is hoping the Iraqi people will co-operate in turning in the “death squads” running rampant in the country.
