Our Safety HR1

It's nice to see Congress getting right to work. Especially knowing full oversite is back in the house. We have gotten to used to passing bills based on fear alone. We need to regain a whole lot of ground, and that starts with securing America. This bill has promise for both.
The speaker of the house Nancy Peloski has been involved on the ground level with the Iraq Report. She hails from California, a progressive state, where we grow strong women very well. California is the leader in Progressive Politics. Nancy Pelosi states "HR 1 provides real over site and protection of the American People"
Lee Hamilton points out, "The bottom line is that if this bill HR1 is enacted, funded and implemented the American People will be safer. The terrorist are plotting on the American people and will not wait, this bill is a question of urgency." Hamilton has felt very confused that so many of the commissions recommendations regarding Iraq have been ignored leaving him frustrated stating, "they need to be put into law sooner better than later". Hamilton states "This Congress needs to send a message, it is a priority for the safety of the American people"
Ben Thompson D-Mississippi Homeland Security Committee, Chairman, points out, "We are looking forward to the senate working for us." We needed a bill that allow first responders to communicate. Mr. Thompson states, "HR 1 is very important legislation", pointing out this program will secure airline travel with full air cargo screening in 3 years. He stated they are working with the Airlines to provide 100% baggage screening, within 4 years. Along with safer ports in 3 years. This Bill will require all agencies to share information and work with each other, in "fusion centers". By working together as a team effort with committee members, appropriations committee, and intelligence department, "in the spirit of lets get it done"
"Efforts will continue tomorrow to strengthen further committee's", says David Obey Rep. D-Wisconsin. Mr. Obey feels , "in the past the appropriation committee have been blocked by previous over site, in very delicate areas". For example, in the recent past, there was a separate Intelligence agency created by Rumsfield, who blocked the appropriations committee by appointing an independent agency and essentially going around congress is over. Mr. Obey feels this Bill will solve that problem. Stating they have followed the example of the taxation committee, "we will annually audit them so they are going well". Congress will have the ability to over site budget items included withing the intelligence community. Obey stated "We want the intelligence to understand they are dealing with the independent branch of government, it is our job to balance the other". The speaker of the house will also be involved as well as the appropriations committee over site.
Kirsten Gillibrand a new Rep in the house states, "This bill will increase the our intelligence by sharing information, and checking 100% of the containers that come into our ports, including checking every container for nuclear matter, and includes safety for our first responders."
This bill is going to be voted on tomorrow in the promised 100 hours of congress!
Tim Roemer feels American will be safer when this passes and is implemented, stating 110th congress is off to a great start.Things seem to be looking up. With congressional over site back in action, and Congress members sharing their ideas and debating can once again continue on the hill. It is very dangerous when all agree. We have lost so much over the last 6 years. We have thrown our constitutional rights along side Habeas Corpus head first into the quagmire with disbelief, a free America ever existed . Now, the ground must regained by this congress less Bush rear his decapitated head. There are many things to be hopeful about. Passing this bill is a big step for America. It deals with WMD by implements the 911 commission recommendations, Congressional Reform allowing congress to clean house, and strengthen congressional over site, and empower the committee members. Making progress of hearts and minds of the people around the world. We need to communicate to our allies around the world. Showing them we care what they think about us. Our enemy is changing quickly and we need to change with them, quickly responding to the changing world around us.
"It is our first responsibility to provide safety for the American People" Nancy Pelosi
